Q: What's the difference between a MasterCard® credit card and a Harris Debit MasterCard®?
A: Unlike a credit card, a Harris Debit MasterCard® is a debit card that works like a "plastic check"; when you use it to make a purchase, the dollar amount of the transaction is deducted from your checking account. There are no credit balances to pay at the end of the month, nor are there any fees or interest payments.

Q: Can I use the Harris Debit Card like a check?
A: Yes, it works like a "plastic check;" all purchases made with a debit card are deducted directly from your checking account. However, using a Harris Debit MasterCard® is a real time saver since there is no need to show identification or write any information other than your signature. Plus, there is no wait for a check approval.

Q: How do I make a purchase using a Harris Debit Card and my Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
A: At any merchant displaying any one of the symbols on the back of your card, you can "swipe" your card through the merchant's PIN reader terminal, press the "Debit" or "ATM" button, verify the transaction amount, and then enter your PIN on the keypad. In seconds, the terminal processes the transaction, confirms that funds are available in your account, and a receipt will print. The transaction amount is automatically debited from your checking account.

Q: Can I get cash back when making a purchase using a Harris Debit Card?
A: Yes, you can get cash back at participating merchants when making a purchase with your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Most merchants will post their cash back policies on their PIN readers at the checkout. To get cash back when making a purchase, just "swipe" the card through the merchant's PIN reader, press the "Debit" or "ATM" button when prompted, and enter your PIN. The PIN reader will prompt you with a question, "do you want cash back?" If you reply yes, then it will ask you how much. Most grocery stores and pharmacies participate in this service. (Note: This service may not be available in all states or locations.)
