Protecting Your Personal Information Online

We work hard to protect your confidential information and privacy online. A secure login process and strong encryption are only the first steps in helping to prevent anyone from accessing your account information online.

When you connect to the Internet, the Internet also connects back to you. Even before you connect to the Bank's Web site, someone out there could potentially get access to your computer.

We want to tell you what we do for our mutual security. We have developed useful checklists for safe Online Banking with Harris.

Harris Online Security
At Harris, information security is one of our highest priorities. We use the latest technologies and other software to prevent unauthorized users from accessing our systems. Several measures we take are apparent: password protections, the encryption of data, secured firewalls, session time-outs, and etc. Harris stays up-to-date with technology in order to keep your account information safe and secure.

Several security measures we take so you can bank online with confidence:
Secure log-in access to your Harris online accounts directly from the Harris home page (“www.harrisbank.com”) under “Online Services.”
The use of strong encryption technology to help ensure that data passing between your PC and our web server is secure, therefore you must have a browser that supports this level of encryption (in technical jargon: 128 bit encryption).
Session time-outs after 10 minutes of inactivity.
The use of secured firewalls, to protect your account information.
Never sending unsecured messages asking you to provide us with personal or account information via email. Please keep in mind that email messages are unsecure and not encrypted.

Several security measures you can take to protect your confidential information when using the Internet:
Sign-in to Online Banking and select the Secure Messaging, Push to Talk, or e-chat options if you need to send us confidential or personal information.
Keep your debit cards and passwords/PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) safe. Do not divulge your passwords/PINs to anyone.
Change your passwords regularly. If you are using Harris Total Look, remember that you will also need to update your passwords when you log into your secure session.
Always log off once you are done with Online Banking. Any Online Banking session left idle for more than 10 minutes will time-out, and any unfinished transactions will not go through.
Make sure nobody watches you if you are using "Online Banking."

As precautionary methods remember to avoid doing the following
Use software that "memorizes" passwords. Yes, we know, it's convenient, however, somebody else might be able to use them too.
Leave your computer while logged into "Online Banking."
Send confidential or personal information through email as it is NOT a secure method of contact.
Fail to report known incidents of unauthorized account access.
