Commitment from the Top: The CEO’s Council on the Equitable Workplace

Harris is a member of BMO Financial Group®†, whose most senior executives are members of the CEO’s Council on the Equitable Workplace. They review the progress made towards achieving our diversity, equity and inclusion goals which are aligned to our business strategies. A key goal of the Council is to ensure a workplace where each employee can bring their full potential to being a true advocate for the customer.

Getting Involved: Diversity Councils and Affinity Groups

The CEO’s Council is supported by Diversity Councils (within business groups) and Affinity Groups (cross-enterprise groups which focus on a particular community).  Employees within Harris and from across BMO Financial Group are actively involved in increasing awareness and advocacy for diversity, equity and inclusion.

In the United States, everyone is welcome to join:

  • 19 Diversity Councils
  • 4 Affinity Groups: 
    • AACE (Asian American Coalition of Employees)
    • AALPs (African American League of Professionals)
    • HNG (Hispanic Networking Group)
    • Lions Pride (Gay Lesbian Bi-sexual Transgendered Affinity Group)

Community Involvement – Sponsorships and Volunteerism

In every community we serve, BMO Financial Group is committed to building, strengthening and enhancing the lives of those who live, work and play here. Every year, we provide financial support, in-kind contributions and hundreds of volunteer hours through our dedicated employees to numerous organizations, groups and causes.   Some of the organizations that we support that help us achieve our commitment to diversity are:

  • Chicago Council on Urban Affairs
  • The Financial Women’s Association
  • The Jackie Robinson Foundation

Our employees have been involved with tutoring and mentoring young people in our communities and many participate in a number of charitable walks and runs throughout the year, including the March of Dimes WalkAmerica and the United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) annual walk/run/bike/and skate-a-thon.

Through corporate giving, volunteer efforts, board memberships, and community outreach BMO Financial Group executes its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion every day.
